They had only two days of food and water and are trapped in a 600-square-foot area, which is about the size of a tiny apartment.
Their story began on August 5, when the mine collapsed. After 17 days of doing everything possible, in search of any signs of life, on Aug. 22, the miners attached a handwritten note to a probe lowered by the rescuers. It said that they were still alive.
