Amazing Marseille

Only 3 hours from Lyon, Marseille is the best alternative to enjoy sea and sun! For soccer supporters you will be in the city of the Olympique Marseillais (OM) which just won yesterday the Champion trophee against PSG, after having won the Champion’s league.

Marseille is the second biggest city of France after Paris and before Lyon. Located on the south east coast of France on the Mediterranean Sea, Marseille is France’s largest commercial port.

Main places to see:

- North: the mont Sainte Victoire which is 1,011 meters high
- South: Notre Dame de la Garde, a beautiful basilica overhanging Marseille

JPEG - East: the calanques are a rugged coastal area interspersed with small fjords. They are stretching from Callelongue, a small fishing village, to the city of Cassis

- West: the goudes at the north west :an unknown paradise, at the edge of JPEG the city surrounded by the Mediterranean see. The perfect place to admire a sunset.

You can enjoy downtown strolls on pedestrian streets as rue Saint Ferréol, Cours Julien near the Music Conservatory, the Cours Honoré-d’Estienne-d’Orves off the Old Port and the area around the Hôtel de Ville.

And why not try a " Bouillabaisse" on the Canebière? This specialty from Marseille is a fish cooked in white wine. It is served first as a soup with garlic bread crust, then the whole fish with potatoes and "rouille", a mediterranean mayo made from monkfish liver, potatoes and tomatoes.

Take care with the regional winds the Mistral and the Tramontane as they can blow until 100km and create woods fires if cigarettes butts are left anywhere...
