A new festival called “Lumière 2010”, appeared in October 2009. This event is entirely dedicated to the history of cinema. It aims to celebrate the anniversary of the film industry. This 6 days event takes place in many cinemas everywhere in “Grand Lyon”.
During the week, the Lumière Award is given to a personality to commemorate his work and special relations with the silver screen.
The 2009 edition was a real success, gathering more than 70 000 participants, 200 volunteers and 100 actors and actresses. Clint Eastwood ,who received the “Lumière Award”, even said Lumière 2009 “was by far the best festival he has participated to”.
The principles of the festival are :
to share the love of cinema
to present yesterday’s beautiful movies by today’s famous figures
to have discussion about the film itself but its history and authors as well
to make the festival available for everyone by being present everywhere in “Grand Lyon”
